DJ CLODAGH GOES TO SWEDEN | |||||||||||||||
30th March 2007 - 1st April 2007 Check photos here... I always love going & playing in new countries & was especially excited when Ola & Anna from the Svaj Klubb in Stockholm, Sweden invited me to play at their party. I’d never been to any Scandinavian country before & have a few great Swedish friends in London, plus so much great techno music, producers & Dj’s have come out of Sweden… I was really looking forward to this gig. I decided to fly over a day early as that was the only day with a direct flight so I flew from Dublin direct to Vasteras on Friday 30 th, then jumped on a bus which took me into Stockholm. One think I noticed immediately was how polite everyone was, even the bus driver, so nice & helpful! Ola met me off the bus & brought me to meet Anna & of course Rey… the Techno Dog! We stayed up chatting till late, telling me the history of their Svaj parties & how they used to run the Svaj Café and a Svaj Bar & now the run their bi monthly Svaj Klubb night. This is one couple that really love & are totally dedicated to electronic music & it was so nice to chat music with them & swap stories & have a good laugh. Really cool people! The next day Anna, Ola, Me & Rey when into the south part of Stockholm to show me around & they also brought me to a cool little rec shop. Then I went to meet my friends Emma, Moa & Helena who had driven 6 hours from Gothenburg for the party!!! It was really good to see them & we went for dinner. Then it was party time! Yeah! Svaj Klubb was held at the small but very cool K2 bar in Stockholm. Dj Carolina Acosta was warming up the bar. Carolina also runs a cool new electronic label called Jackmoves. She gave me their latest release Jackmoves 007 & it’s really great. Inside Ola was warming up the main floor playing some minimal beats alongside a guy playing the Didgeridoo!! It sounded sooo wicked… they really worked so well together! Vj Jungle was making some really great visuals aswell! Then it was my turn, of course I was nervous as always before I played. I was worried that my sound wouldn’t be the minimal style that’s so popular in Sweden at the moment, but people were so nice & reassured me that they wanted to hear me… my sound… my vibe & people are kinda bored with minimal now. So I let it rip with my pumpin techno & it went down a really well! I was also told that people in Sweden would be a bit more reserved on the dancefloor compared to other places I’ve played… but not at Svaj Klubb… people had such a good vibe & energy & danced like mad! & were really responsive clapping & shouting! I really really enjoyed my set here & really really enjoyed the people! SWEDEN ROCKS!!! I was really happy when I got to meet the awesome Swedish techno producer Carl Falk as we had chatted a few times on myspace & it was great to finally meet him & his girlfriend Virginia, plus he brought me 3 new wicked releases of his which are out soon! Check out Adult 008, Pirate Audio 008 and Hard as Funk 005! I played the A side of Adult 008 called Entry & the crowd went mad as it’s a wicked funky pumpin techno track! Check it out! Another great thing is I met lots of really cool female Djs! In Stockholm there is a big community of female Djs called “Sister Stockholm” which was founded by Anna (Dj Anaya) & her friend also called Anna (Gavanas)! Such a great idea & they have loads of excellent up & coming & very talented female Djs like Miss Dilemma, La Fleur, Carolina Acosta, etc. The next day Dj Miss Dilemma & Dj La Fleur gave my friends & me a tour of Stockholm, showing us the old town & around the port. Stockholm is really pretty & so clean… especially the air… really fresh… no pollution! & best of all the sun was shining! Again it was so nice to chat music & be inspired by all the djs that I met… all positive & motivated to achieve the best they can & to keep the electronic vibe alive. Big huge thank you to Anna & Ola & Rey & all the Sister Stockholm crew for making me feel so welcome & especially my friends Emma, Moa & Helena for driving 6 hours to come to the party! Thanks a million guys & Tack Tack Sweden! Hopefully see you soon again! Luv Clodagh xx |
